[edit] Circuit Operation

The processor, IC501, is powered at all times. When the igntion switch is off, it is powered by ~4.7V provided by IC101 (HC284). When the ignition is on, the rail increases to 5.0V.

A PNP power transistor (T101 - a B1015) regulates the 12V B+ line down to the internal 5V regulated rail. Base drive current for this transistor is provided by IC101.

The input signals THW, THA, VS, VTA, B+ are filtered, clamped and passed to IC401 for A/D conversion. IC401 connects via 4 pins to the processor. These presumably run some sort of serial interface (eg SPI) for passing the converted analog values to the processor.
